TNO is using JewelSuite to build regional 3D models of most of the offshore in the Dutch North Sea Sector. The extent of each of these models is about 100 x 200 km, modelled at a resolution of 250 m.Vertical coverage is from surface to base Rotliegend; structural complexities in the model cover diapiric salt as well as the densely faulted pre-salt strata. The models contain up to 900 faults, accurately represent in the 3D grid as interpreted from seismic, due to the unique Jewel grid approach which splits model cells exactly as intersected by fault surfaces. The semi-automatic framework modelling and 3D gridding make handling of such large data-sets an achievable task.
